A Special Evening Awaits on June 19

Spend a relaxing evening with Gregory Sheppard, bass and Sar-Shalom Strong, pianist on Wednesday, June 19 at 7:00 pm in Park Central’s sanctuary. The diverse program will include:

  • 5 Art songs by African American composers
  • Per questa bella mano: Mozart concert aria
  • 3 Handel pieces: Leave me loathsome light, Where’er you walk, Si tra i ceppi
  • 3 Spirituals: Balm in Gilead, Ezekiel Saw the Wheel, Is there anybody here who loves my Jesus
  • 2 Quilter pieces
  • Ella giammai ma’mo from Don Carlo

Reflecting on Mr. Sheppard’s career, Robert Allen, Park Central’s director of music, commented, “Gregory Sheppard is a supremely talented and gracious vocalist with a powerful voice and a commanding presence. We are pleased to welcome him to Park Central on this visit to his Syracuse home, and to host this recital for the community that has had the privilege of witnessing his development as an artist over the past three decades.”

Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance (cash/check) or in advance at parkcentralchurch.brownpapertickets.com at $20 for adults and $5 for currently enrolled students. Stay for a reception afterwards in the Gathering Hall for light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artists.

A note about parking: After 6:00 pm, free parking is available in lots on East Fayette Street near the church property, as well as around the perimeter of Firefighter’s Memorial Park.
